Cold Weather and Lawn Conditions?
Now is the time to give your lawn and plants
a good feeding for healthy turf and
ornamentals. Here is what ABC will be
looking for and talking to customers about:
1.) Recovering from the cold spell requires
time. Trees and shrubs may not show damage
until many months after a freeze. Factors
like landscape slope, plant & soil moisture,
and tree coverage can determine the amount
of cold damage.
2.) As your ornamental plants begin to grow,
insects may be attracted to the new growth.
ABC technicians will watch closely for
insects, treat, and make recommendations for
improving your ornamentals.
3.) Bare areas in turfgrass can be one of
the first signs of damage from the cold.
Areas that survived will begin to grow.
Areas that do not green indicate permanent
damage.
4.) As temperatures increase, grubs are
starting to show signs of feeding on the new
tender roots.... ABC can make sure you are
