Plumeria Catalog
Plumeria (frangipanis) are said to
be the most beautiful and fragrant trees in the plant world. They
are native to the Americas’ tropics with over 200 varieties in 7
species. Plumeria have been successfully transplanted to most
tropical areas of the world with great success. The Plumeria flower
is what leis (the Hawaiian necklace) are made of.
Plumeria are incomparable with other trees when it comes to their
growth habits, shape and leaf and floral beauty. They make wonderful
potted plants and with the right care and attention can be grown
anywhere in the United States.
Plumeria have very few insect or disease problems. Most of the time
they simply require ample food, water and protection from freezing
weather to thrive. Their fragrance include coconut, citrus, rose,
spice and many others while their color range from pure white to
deep red with a variety of other colors in between.
Care Instructions
Plumeria can be pulled from the
soil in colder months and stored in basements, garages, etc and
replanted after the last frost and then brought into bloom! They go
dormant in the winter, losing their leaves and require virtually no
care.
They grow well in the ground or in containers. They need protection
from sub 38 degree weather and can be fed with a 8-14-10 fertilizer
(for best results).
